Kaveri Mishra , research scholar of Odissi Research Center and Nritya Visharad is an accomplished dance teacher, had the privilege to work as Assistant to Padma Vibhushan Late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra at Odissi Research Center, BBSR training her junior batches in the research program.
She started her training at the age of 6 and continued until she was awarded a scholarship to pursue a 4 year work-research program under the guidance of Padma Vibhushan Late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra at Odissi Research Center BBSR . She has performed in prominent Indian classical dance festivals held in India (Konark, Khajuraho, Soorya) and other parts of the world such as Russia, Germany, Indonesia, North Korea, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, France,UK, Japan to name a few.
Her research topic called ‘’Still and Mobility points of Sculptures’’ required her to go around the Indian continent and study the various sculptures of old Indian temples, as these sculptures depict the various stories from the Hindu mythology, which are re-enacted in the form of dance in Odissi. She also contributed in the making of the two main basic books for learning this particular dance form called the “Odissi Pathfinder volume 1 and volume 2” and participated in TV documentary “Natya Shastra”
Worked as dance teacher for 14 yrs in DPS school in New Delhi and Dubai , where she widened her knowledge in many other dance forms other than Odissi, such as Indian folk, contemporary, fusion, semi classical, western and many more.
Her job demanded of her not to just compose a dance for entertainment but to create a story that would pass on a positive message to the young and bright students through her dance, be it on saving the environment or on world peace, it was always a challenge that she came through for her school. She has since then worked in two more highly reputed schools in Dubai where she continued doing the same and helped the schools in wining many awards.
